Parents lose hope in search for son missing in New Zealand

Ken Boogers' parents have given up the search for their missing son in New Zealand and are heading returning to Veldhoven. "We have done everything we can. We're going home," Boogers' father, Peter Boogers, told Omroep Brabant. Boogers, 26, was last seen on Saturday afternoon, March 21, on his way to take a stroll on Wharariki Beach on the southern island of New Zealand, His friends raised the alarm the next day when he did not show up for an appointment. On Wednesday, Boogers' parents came to the same conclusion as the police: searching does not make sense anymore. "We have done everything over the last few days. At our own request, a special infrared helicopter was deployed. But it found nothing. We're going home." The family, Boogers' parents, brother, sister, aunt and uncle, said their farewells to Ken in the area where he disappeared. There is no memorial service planned in the Netherlands.
