Code Yellow weather warning for strong winds

A code yellow weather warning is in effect across much of the Netherlands due to high winds. The warning covers the entire country, except the Frisian islands, until 9 p.m. Sunday, the government’s meteorological agency KNMI reported. Winds on Sunday are expected to gust up to 100 km/h during the day. In the north, winds will still reach up to 90 km/h at night, the KNMI said. Those in Noord-Holland, Friesland and the Frisian islands are also cautioned about whipping winds up to Monday morning rush hour. The windspeed will begin to taper off overnight, dropping to 80 km/h. Though not under warning, the Netherlands will likely experience strong wind into Tuesday, with the chance of occasional rain.
