Embattled ex-Justice Sec. could return to Parliament: report

Former State Secretary of Security and Justice Fred Teeven (VVD) may be returning to parliament soon. Teeven, who resigned only last week, may soon be asked to take the place left vacant by Mark Verheijen's resignation late last month. Teeven does not want to comment on the matter, but according to De Telegraaf, the VVD expects that he will accept the invitation of the Electoral Council. Teeven would not be the first official to return to the parliament after leaving the cabinet. Former Minister Klaas de Vries (PvdA) returned to the Tweede Kamer (lower house of parliament) after Jan Peter Balkenende's first cabinet was elected and Henk Kamp (VVD), Johan Remkes (VVD) and Rita Verdonk (then VVD) also became Members of Parliament after the fourth Balkenende cabinet was elected.
