Teen employee gives birth in Amsterdam grocery store
A baby was born in the Dirk van den Broek on Pretoriusstraat in Amsterdam Thursday night, RTV Noord-Holland reports. According to the police, both mother and baby are doing well.
An officer of the mounted police parked her horse outside the store and rushed to help the child into the world. Several ambulances were on site to provide support.
Witnesses told newspaper Parool that the mother is a 17-year-old girl who works in the store. The police can only say that it is a "young girl".
On Friday morning, the supermarket handed out rusk biscuits covered in candied anise, a Dutch tradition for the birth of a child. A representative of the store said that everyone who helped out will be thanked for their handling of the situation.
