Groningen town in race for World Dwarf Games

The Belangevereniging Van Kleine Mensen (BVKM - Interest Association of Little People) wants the next World Dwarf Games (2017) to be held in Stadskanaal, Groningen. The association submitted the bid book to the organization at the end of last month, RTV Noord reports. According to Ben Froom, who submitted the bid book on behalf of the Disability Games Foundation, Stadskanaal is the ideal place for the event because of the Pagecentrum, which can accommodate 800 people and the many sports facilities in the area. The International Dwarf Athletic Federation will announce the location of the next World Dwarf Games in May. During the Games, people shorter than 1.55 meter compete in football, athletics and swimming. The previous edition was held in Michigan, America and attracted 395 participants.
