MH17 survivors allowed to view wreckage all week
The first group of relatives of the victims of the flight MH17 disaster were able to view the plane's wreckage at the Gilze-Rijen airbase yesterday. This week all interested relatives can take a tour of the hangars where the plane's wreckage is displayed, NOS reports.
The wreckage of the plane was transported from the Ukraine to the airbase last year. At the airbase the wreckage was sorted by importance to the investigation into the cause of the disaster. The parts that are most relevant to the investigation are in a separate hangar that is not accessible to the relatives. The relatives will be able to view these parts only after the investigation is complete.
The investigation into the cause of the disaster will likely still take the rest of this year. Researchers will start attempting to reconstruct the outside of the cockpit and a portion of the business class next week.
