Police fire shots in wild car chase
A 26-year-old man stole an SUV from a police impound lot yesterday and then took police on a ravaging chase through Rotterdam-Noord with it.
The man, whose name has not been given and for whom no address is listed, stole the black Land Rover around 1.00pm from the lot where police keep cars that have been towed away. When officers traced him, he sped away, zigzagging through streets in the city.
Officers fired shots at him, but he kept on going, crashing into a police van that had been placed at Gordelweg as a blockade. The van was left a total loss, but the late model SUV kept going, until it was brought to a stop.
Nobody was injured during the ordeal.
