Another VVD politician under investigation: report

In addition to controversy and concerns surrounding parliamentarian Mark Verheijen, the VVD is may now well be dealing with another politician under investigation. According to the AD, Kathalijne de Kruif, the VVD faction leader from Maarssen, seems to be part of a major criminal investigation. Sources told the newspaper that the investigation involving De Kruif possibly involves fraud and cannabis cultivation. The politician is also suspected of leaking secret information from the confidential committee to a senior VVD member regarding the appointment of the new mayor of Vecht. De Kruif was arrested and questioned last week. She was released after questioning, but is still considered a suspect. The Public Prosecutor in Arnhem confirmed that he suspicion of information leaking emerged from another investigation done by the Public Prosecutor in Utrecht, but would make no further comment.
