Justice Min. grilled over missing jihadist

Various services, including the Public Prosecutor, knew that Omar H., the jihadist who escaped from the Netherlands, wanted to leave the country. Minister Ivo Opstelten of Security and Justice wrote that to the Tweede Kamer (lower house of parliament) today. In 2013 the court sentenced H to one year in prison, of which 4 months is probationary. After he had served that sentence, he could await the appeal in freedom. Instead he fled the Netherlands. Last month the Court of Appeal gave H. a longer prison sentence than the court. He will only carry out his sentence if he ever returns to the Netherlands.
