Suspected Syrian fighter caught at Schiphol

The Koninklijke Marechaussee on Schiphol arrested a 27 year old man last week on suspicion that he was traveling to Syria to join the armed conflict. The Border Guard Brigade of the marechaussees checked the French man during a border check. He indicated that he was on his way to Turkey, the Koninklijke Marechaussee reports on its Facebook page. The man's answers to other questions also lead the marechaussee to suspect that he was on his way to join the conflict in Syria via Schiphol. The suspect was arrested as in currently in custody. The Koninklijke Marechaussee will investigate the suspects destination and further involvement under the direction of the Public Prosecutor in Noord-Holland.
