Thirteen arrested at Break the System protest

The police arrested 13 people during a Break the System protest on the Malieveld in The Hague on Tuesday afternoon. Groups of demonstrators went to march into the city center, in the direction of the Binnenhof, against prior made protest agreements. Six people were arrested because they would not comply with the order to return to the Malieveld. Two people were arrested for sedition, four for defamation and one because he would not identify himself. The protesters were allowed the opportunity to present a petition to the Second Chamber during the demonstration, as previously agreed with the organization. The protest was disbanded by Mayor Jozias van Aartsen around 14:00 after repeated failure to respect the agreements to remain on Malieveld. "Everyone is welcome to demonstrate in The Hague, but you have to keep to the agreements," the mayor said. All remaining protesters were asked to leave. This happened without incident.
