Police car firebombed in Nieuw West
A police car burned out in Amsterdam Sunday night, reportedly after a man on a scooter threw a Molotov cocktail into it.
The car was parked at the police station in Nieuw West. Witnesses said the man threw in the firebomb and then sped off. Two other private vehicles that were parked next to it, also went up in flames. “These guys know the cars we drive in,” RTLNieuws.nl quoted an irate police spokesperson. “Even the civilian cars. They note the license plate numbers.” It is not the first time in recent years that a police car was torched at Nieuw West. Officers actually have instructions to park their cars in the secured garage, but this car was left out for unclear reasons. “The persons who did this are trying to hurt the police, but they forget that it only cramps our ability to go out and help when help is needed,” the spokesperson reacted.
