Woman, 60, gunned down in Amsterdam Nieuw West
A 60-year-old Amsterdam woman is dead following a shooting that witnesses say included automatic gunfire. The shooting happened at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday on Pieter van der Werfstraat in the Geuzenveld neighbourhood of Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
Officers responding to the scene found the woman with gunshot wounds on the balcony of a third floor apartment, police say. She is not known to have an extensive history with police.
A car was also found in flames in Osdorp. Police are investigating in case the car was a getaway vehicle.
A Turkish man and woman were targeted in the shooting, according to blog Crimesite.nl. One other person was initially believed to be injured, but police did not confirm this.
Witnesses said a man was spotted running from the shooting carrying a plastic shopper bag and a gym bag, AD.nl reports.
Bizar. Zojuist opgeschrikt door een paar keiharde knallen. Blijkt een mitrailleur geweest te zijn. #geuzenveld pic.twitter.com/fzKhiOQ4I9
