Burglar stabs child, 11

An intruder stabbed an 11-year old child with a sharp object, possibly a knife, while trying to escape a house in Rozendaal, Gelderland yesterday afternoon. The victim was not seriously injured. The child was playing with other children in a house when a suspicious noise was heard coming from the basement around 4 p.m., police say. They found a man allegedly attempting to burglarize the home. Police describe the man as having a Mediterranean appearance with a short dark hair and a black jacket. After the stabbing the burglar fled the scene. The perpetrator, possibly in his late twenties, has not yet been found. It is unclear how the intruder entered the house. The police is asking witnesses with any information to come forward.
