Two million euro cargo theft stopped at Schiphol

Police working at Schiphol Airport arrested four men in December suspected of stealing a valuable truckload. The Marechaussee, the policing branch of the Dutch armed forces, caught the men red-handed as they tried to steal cargo worth roughly two million euros. The Special Protection Tasks Brigade (BSB) apprehended two men aged 20 and 26 from Hoofddorp, Noord-Holland, and a 27-year old man from neighboring Nieuw-Vennep. Police found a firarm while searching their homes and a warehouse run by the suspects, the Marechaussee revealed in a statement. Further investigations revealed that an employee of the company from which the theft was committed was involved in the crime. The 30-year old man from Hillegom, Zuid-Holland was also arrested. Three of the suspects are still in custody, as the Marechaussee and the Noord-Holland public prosecutor continue their investigation.
