Dutch-German tax treaty pushed back to 2016

The upcoming tax treaty between the Netherlands and Germany will only take effect on January 1st, 2016. According to State Secretary Eric Wiebes of Finance, there were so many questions about the treaty that it is not feasible to let it go into force on January 1st, 2015 as was scheduled, the Financieele Dagblad reported today. Many of the questions came from thousands of Dutch retirees living in Germany. Through the treaty the pensioners will also be taxable, which means that they could lose a quarter of their disposable income. This is because Dutch tax rates are higher.
