Second Chamber breaks meeting record
At 02:42 this morning the Second Chamber established a new record: that of the longest meeting this calender year. And that on the last day before the Christmas recess.
At that moment the Chamber had spent 17 hours and 27 minutes in the meeting about the so called care crisis caused by Minister Edith Schippers' collapsed health care law. It should be noted that they were not debating in the plenary hall for a large part of of the evening.
The Chamber broke a second record only a few minutes later. It was the first time this year that they continued debating after 02:45 a.m.
The record "end meeting" was achieved at 05:38 a.m on June 29th, 2006 when the second cabinet-Balkenende fell in "the night of Ayaan". That meeting lasted 19 hours and 23 minutes.
