KLM, Airbnb ink long-term partnership
KLM and hospitality company Airbnb yesterday announced that they will entering into a long-term partnership. To introduce the partnership, KLM transformed an airplane into an apartment which was listed on Airbnb. KLM travelers will soon be able to look for a place to stay on Airbnb while doing their flight booking on the KLM website. KLM's travel guide has accommodations on more than 600 locations worldwide. "Airbnb and KLM both connect people around the world and our product portfolios are complimentary: no long flight without accommodation. And since both companies share a passion in offering their customers an inspiring travel experience, it made perfect sense to join forces." said Martijn van der Zee of Air France. "Airbnb guests and KLM travelers look for many of the same things when they travel; homely comfort, great experiences and a personal touch. With KLM's great flight connections to off-the-beaten-track destinations such as Bogota and Almatay, there's plenty of opportunity to explore Airbnb listings in 190 countries, including apartments, houses, villas, tree houses, boats and even igloos." said Even Heggernes, country manager of Airbnb Nordics & Netherlands. To mark their new cooperation, KLM and Airbnb ran a competition in which three lucky travelers had the chance to stay in the airplane apartment. The winners were a family from Rotterdam, a couple from Rome and two friends from the US and Jamaica.
