Emergency services failed in crash that killed baby: report

The safety region IJsseland is investigating why the nearest fire station was not notified first after an accident in the Overijjsel village of De Krim on Monday morning. On Monday morning a 30 year old woman lost control of her car and crashed into the channel. Her 1.5 year old son was also in the car. The two victims were in the water for about twenty minutes. The toddler died in the hospital. On Tuesday the mother was still in critical condition. The nearest fire station is located less than a kilometer from the main road where the accident happened. This station only heard about the accident after emergency services from farther away were notified.
