Dutch people spend 95 euro per year on candy

In 2013 Dutch people each spent just over 95 euro on candy per person. More than half of this money was spent on chocolate. The consumption of chocolate and sweets in 2013 amounted to about 1.6 billion euro. This is based on figures from Statistics Netherlands. In 2013 the Netherlands imported nearly 1 billion euros in candy, more than 300 million kilograms. More than half of it was chocolate. Belgium and Germany together account for almost 60 percent of these imports. The imports of chocolate involved nearly 600 million euro. Germany, Belgium, France, the United Kingdom and Italy provided most of the chocolate. Compared to 2012, the imports increased by 13 percent.
