Zwarte Piet robs gas station

A man dressed like Zwarte Piet robbed a gas station in Borne yesterday.

Police say the robbery took place just after 6.00pm Sunday afternoon. According to a release the Piet barged into the gas station store, held up the female store attendant and then struck her with a bat.

He managed to grab an amount of money and then ran out of the store again.

It is not clear if aside from wearing the costume of the embattled Zwarte Piet character, the suspect had also put on black faced.

Police are investigating but they have not yet found a suspect. They have asked possible witnesses to come forth, if necessary anonymously.
