Four elderly women killed in Drenthe car crash

Three elderly women died in a car accident on the N381 at Zweeloo on Wednesday night. The victims are three women from Borger age 72, 76 and 77 and a 73 year old woman from Buinen. At around 19:00 last night, a truck crashed into the car in which the women sat. The car was standing sideways across the road. The 22 year old truck driver could not avoid it. According to the police, it is possible that the driver of the car was trying to turn onto the road. It may also be due to a technical failure of the car. The truck driver has been offered victim support. Mayor Mark Out of Borger-Odoorn is shocked. The four women were residents of that municipality. "I want to offer relatives and friends strength during this difficult time" said Mayor Out.
