Three hospitalized after taking shoddy drugs

Three men were hospitalized in Laren/Bussum over the weekend after taking the drug 2cb; two still remain admitted.

Police say they found the drug’s first victim at Mauvezand in Laren around 11.00pm Saturday night. The 21-year-old man was lying on the ground acting aggressive. While officers were tending to him they received a report of a second man who was behaving in the same aggressive way at Zandgat. He was also 21. Both told police they had used the 2cb. Then around 4.00am Sunday morning they found a 21-year-old man from Huizen at Sint Vitus Straat in Bussum. He seemed confused, behaved erratic and aggressive and appeared under the influence of drugs and confirmed that he too had used 2cb. His was listed as critical at the hospital. The man who was found at Zandgat has meanwhile been released from the hospital. Police say they would initiate an investigation into the origin of 2cb. It's the third time in two months shoddy drugs (nearly) claim victims in the Netherlands. Last month a man died while in police custody in Amsterdam from bad drugs he had ingested, just days after another man died at a dance festival, also in Amsterdam.
