No produce in Albert Heijn shops caused by error
Since Saturday customers of Albert Heijn in the Noord-Holland region have found many empty fresh produce shelves. According to a spokesperson for Albert Heijn, this is the result of an internal system failure at the distribution center in Zaandam
The supply chain fault has left stores from Uithoorn and Amsterdam in the southern end of the province on up to Den Helder in the north without many fruits and vegetables. Stock in each Albert Heijn varies store to store, with about a fourth of the 200 stores in Noord Holland affected by the failure.
"This is very annoying for our customers, for which we apologize," said one spokesperson. The company says the error has been corrected, and distribution is now back on track. The spokesperson expects that inventories will be back to normal on Tuesday.
