Dog walker's van stolen with 15 dogs inside

Dog walker Chantal Scholten says she is still in shock after her van was stolen while she was on the job in Arnhem, Gelderland. There were 15 dogs inside the Renault Traffic when it was taken Monday at about 11:30 a.m. At least one suspect was apprehended just minutes after the van was found in Oosterbeek around 4 p.m, "thanks to a tip from area residents," local police said on Twitter. All 15 dogs were said to be doing well, and police thanked the public for their help. “I brought a dog home, and the van was swiped from out under my nose,” Scholten said. “The keys were still in the ignition,” she told broadcaster Omroep Gelderland. “Stupid, maybe, but it was only 30 seconds. I just wasn’t expecting that.” The dogs’ owners “reacted emotionally” to the news, she said. “That someone does that… I don’t understand it.” The white van is registered to Paddy's Hondenuitlaatservice, the company Scholten represents. Police had asked people to keep their eyes open for the vehicle. “They may have the van, but I just wanted my dogs back,” Scholten said.
