Road worker killed in A12 accident; others injured

A road worker was killed in an accident on the A12 at Woerden this morning. Another road worker was seriously injured. They were hit by a truck. The truck driver was also seriously injured. According to the police, the truck driver is seen as a suspect in the investigation. He is currently in the hospital. The Rijkswaterstaat reports that the A12, in the direction of Rotterdam and the Hague, is expected to remain closed until after the morning rush hour. The service expects heavy traffic on the road around Utrecht. They even advice people heading towards Rotterdam and the Hague via Utrecht to stay home. The Traffic Department also warns of a very busy rush hour. Traffic is being diverted via the A1, A4 and A9 towards the Hague. And via the A15 and A27 towards Rotterdam. This will cause a 30 minutes to one hour delay.
