NS should pay up for bike storage: MP
The cost of building bike storage facilities at train stations is becoming too high for municipalities, according to the ChristenUnie MP Carla Dik-Faber. Dik-Faber has called for the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) to contribute funds for construction and operation.
Dik-Faber has labeled the ten-year rail agreement between government, the NS and ProRail to improve the quality, service and security for passengers as “too vague”, requesting State Secretary for the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment Wilma Mansveld to provide clear indications of what contribution is expected by the NS. The agreement also allows NS to raise fares on some passengers.
ChristenUnie have insisted on a House debate with Secretary Mansveld to discuss the issue.
