Rotterdam shooting victim was Amsterdammer

The man who was shot and killed in a restaurant in Rotterdam on Tuesday, was a 29-year-old Amsterdammer, police has said.

In a press release issued this morning, police say that their investigation into the incident continues; 20 detectives have been assigned to the investigation.

The victim’s name has not been released and it is not clear whether police have any indication what prompted the shooting.

The incident took place around 6.00pm Tuesday evening at cafe Dürüm Evi restaurant at Mathenesserweg. “There were staff as well as customers present when it happened; none got injured,” police say.

The victim however, died before police arrived on the scene; the shooter had by then already fled. The victim’s car that was parked nearby, has been confiscated.
