Tourism revenue increases 12.5% in four years
Tourism revenue increased with 12.5 percent in the last four years, Statistics Netherlands reports.
The amount that tourists spend increased 9 percent over the last three years to 65 billion euros. This is mostly due to prices that increased in that period and the fact that more foreign tourists visited the Netherlands.
Many part time workers work in the tourism industry. Converted to full time jobs, the sector accounted for 357 thousand jobs last year. The hospitality industry creates the most jobs within the sector. Other goods and services, such as land transport and retail, account for a quarter of the jobs in the tourism sector.
Activities in the arts and culture sector such as sport, leisure and gambling, also contribute to tourism employment opportunities.
