Cabinet worried about Israel plan to release territory

The Cabinet is concerned about Israel's plan to release 400 acres of land at a settlement on the Western Jordan shore, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said during a debate in the Second Chamber. The European Union has condemned the plan and has called on Israel to turn back on the decision. The Netherlands concurs with this, according to Rutte. According to the Cabinet this decision by Israel is very unfortunate. The decision was made only one day after the agreement on the cease-fire, and will not contribute to the de-escalation of the fragile situation. The Israeli settlements on the Western bank of the Jordan are in conflict with international law and an obstacle to the attainment of a two state solution, the Cabinet says.
