WhatsApp grows to 600m users
Messaging service WhatsApp is doing well, with 600 million people worldwide using the app to send messages more than once a month, according to director Jan Koum, the NOS reports.
In February, it looked like the messaging app's competitors would be taking on many of WhatsApp's clients when Facebook bought the company. Privacy fears abounded, but it now seems that the service has retained its customers, and even gained some.
Two months after the takeover, Koum announced that WhatsApp had 500 million customers. After several more months, the service has gained another 100 million users. It is unclear what part of the world these customers come from.
