More street executions feared for Amsterdam

Police in Amsterdam warn that more street executions in the city could become a reality after Monday's violent death of notorious criminal Deriaoui van der Meijden. The 34-year-old victim was deep in the criminal underworld of Amsterdam. According to people close to him, he had close ties with Gwenette Martha, killed earlier this year. Martha is seen as one of the lead suspects in several high-profile cases, including the double-execution in the Staatsliedenbuurt at the end of 2012. According to police, the Staatsliedenbuurt execution kicked off a series of assassinations within the affected groups, and at least seven people have been killed. "Bullet holes at the place where assassination took place in Amsterdam yesterday [Monday] evening. Shot with automatic weapons."
