King buys €600,000 high speed yacht
Dutch King Willem-Alexander has dipped deep into the royal purse to purchase a luxury speedboat costing around €700,000, De Telegraaf reports. The pleasure-yacht was bought from Dutch dockyard Wajer & Wajer Yachts, Quote writes.
The starting price for the Osprey 38 is about €575,000, excluding vat. The King bought the vessel to sail with during his family's holidays in Krandi, Greece where the family have a widely-discussed holiday home.
The boat is 11 meters long and can reach top speeds of 45 knots, around 84 kilometers per hour. There is space for 14 people on board the yacht, accented with teak and mahogany wood. The sound system includes three amplifiers, eight speakers, and two sub-woofers, also on the sun deck.
The yacht's steering center was also custom-made for the King. The ship is controlled by a joystick, and is fitted with a 15-inch lcd screen to monitor the speed.
According to the Metro, Russian businessman and politician Roman Abramovich has two of these luxury boating vessels.
