Traffic cop run over, headbutted; one arrest

A 24-year-old traffic warden was injured Saturday afternoon after a motorist intentionally ran over the officer in Ulft, Gelderland, police say. The traffic controller was working in the Kerkstraat awaiting the arrival of the Ulftse Avondvierdaagse, an annual running event held in the town with over 3,000 participants. As a 39-year-old driver approached the the traffic checkpoint, the warden asked him to detour. Police say that instead of following the route, the driver ignored the request and drove over the foot of the young man. The driver, from Ulft, then got out of his car and headbutted the officer, police allege. The motorist is believed to have given the victim a headbutt after briefly returning the incident. The driver then fled the scene. Police investigating the incident found him at his house, where he was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault. https://twitter.com/BertKuster/status/474975467343478785
