Bankruptcy in NL businesses drops by a quarter

The number of businesses going bankrupt is 15 percent lower this year than last according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Failed businesses, exclusively one-man enterprises, numbered 521 in March. That is almost 100 fewer than in February. These businesses that declared themselves bankrupt in March are mainly concerned with trade (127), financial services (78) and construction (77). The number of bankruptcies declared in a specific month is almost equal to the number of meeting days of the court in that month, according to the AD. This can vary month to month. For a better perspective, development of the three month average is also generally looked at. With 578 against 603, the three month average in March was also lower than in February. After a peak of 751 in July, the average has come down significantly.
