New US Ambassador slams Wilders

The new American ambassador in The Hague, Timothy Broas, has voiced his disapproval of Wilders and his anti-Moroccan rants. Broas has only been in his position for a week, but he has already found himself in the middle of a very sensitive Dutch national discussion. He made his standing quite clear in a meet-and-greet with the press. On Thursday morning in his ambassadorial home in The Hague, Broas told Dutch journalists that Wilders' (whom he only referred to as "a politician") recent performance, "is not in agreement with the shared values of the United States and The Netherlands. Diplomats aren't known to involve themselves in, or side with a particular corner of sensitive political issues in the countries they are stationed. Broas is not experienced with this diplomatic code, but he is a lawyer who was an important donor in Obama's election campaigns.
