Angry football player arrested

Police have arrested a man from Rotterdam who is suspected of aggravated assault of a football player from Klaaswaal.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon during a game between the Klaaswalers and the Rotterdammers at the football fields at Jaap Kosterstraat in Klaaswaal. Police say that at a certain moment a brawl erupted during which a 23-year-old player from Rotterdam slammed his fist into the face of one of his opponents and then ran. It turned out at the hospital that the 22-year-old man from Klaaswaal had suffered a broken nose, for which he underwent an operation. Police say it was not hard to identify the Rotterdammer who hit him. He was arrested on Monday and remains in jail as the investigation continues, police say.
