Preacher calls Els Borst Angel of Death
A church minister said today that God took the life of Els Borst so she could come answer for the euthanasia law that she championed when she was Minister of Public Health.
Reverend A. van Andel of the Restored Reformed Church in Montfoort called Borst an "Angel of Death". The former Minister of State was found dead in her house a month ago. Police suspect a crime. “It is not a coincidence that she didn't die a natural death. She had to meet her Judge, who she offended so much with her ungodly statement,” the reverend wrote today in the newsletter of the Reformed Church in Montfoort. He was referring to words Borst exclaimed 14 years ago when the euthanasia law was approved; “"It is finished!” she said, angering a lot of Christians because those were the exact words attributed to Jesus Christ before he died on the cross. The then Minister of Public Health apologized later. Van Andel said Borst is now called to justify herself in front of God. “God does not take kindly to ridicule. It was through the support (of Borst) that back then many and the most ungodly laws were approved in our country,” he wrote. His statements horrified many. “Unbelievable and insufferable,” Second Chamber member Pia Dijkstra (D66) tweeted in reaction to the story.
