Tenant evictions up 8%
Last year, there were 6980 evictions from homes, the AD reports. This is a rise of 8 percent in comparison to 2012.
In 88 percent of all cases, the reason for eviction is that people can't produce the money to pay the rent, according to a survey from the Aedes housing association. Single tenants between the ages of 18 and 60 seem to have experienced evictions the most.
Aedes blames the economy. "The number of unemployed people is rising, people don't or rarely receive salary increase, the ceiling for allowances is being cut back and meanwhile life is becoming more expensive", president of Aedes Marc Calon says.
