Dead monkey found in luggage

Customs officers on Schiphol found the remains of a dead monkey in a suitcase of a traveler from Surinam, Thursday. The passenger claimed the monkey was intended for a soup. Monkeys are protected animals and may not be brought into the Netherlands. The remains of the partially decomposed monkey were seized and the passenger was fined.
