R'dam Museum Night draws 15k
This year's Museumnacht in Rotterdam has drawn 15,000 visitors, which makes it a success once again, the organizers say.
The Museum Night allows visitors to enter museums in the city at night between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The two biggest museums in the city, Kunsthal and Boijmans van Beuningen, were not open. They find the night too expensive, as they do not receive money from the organization.
The ticket earnings will go to promotion as well as the transport between museums, while it takes extra money to keep staff working. According to the museum Boijmans van Beuningen, a Museum Night costs €25,000 in security as well as €10,000 in staff.
Other cities in the Netherlands host Museum Nights as well, but on different dates.
