Three busted dumping stolen safe in Amsterdam

Three men, aged 23, 31, and 32, were arrested Thursday March 6 around 23:35 on the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam, after police had spotted them dump a safe in the water in Almere.

Police spotted the three in the vicinity of the Doctor J.M. den Uylpark, dumping a safe in the water and driving off toward Amsterdam. Shortly after they were apprehended on the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam, and charged with receiving stolen goods. One of the suspects was also charged with threatening a police officer, which occurred during transportation to the police station. The fire department recovered the safe from the water on Friday. Detectives are investigating the origins of the safe and the role of the suspects in the case.
