A'dam using museums, gimmicks to up voter turnout

Amsterdam mayor, Eberhard van der Laan, sent in a proposal with some suggestions to the City Council, Wednesday, to entice more voters to make a trip to the ballot box. If approved voters will be able to bring out their vote in special locations such as the Rijksmuseum and the ArenA. In addition the City calls on businesses to do something special for people who present their voting pass on March 17, 18, and 19.

In anticipation of the City Council elections on March 19, when voters bring out their votes in special locations, such as Artis, V&D, universities, hospitals, the ArenA, and Rijksmuseum, presenting a voting pass can earn people a free massage, or a discount at a bowling center, or an extra cookie with a cup of coffee.
