Police investigate home of Els Borst

Former D66 Minister Els Borst, did not die from a natural cause. Police are trying to determine whether her death is the result of an accident or a crime. The body of honorary Minister of State, Borst, was found Monday evening in her garage on the Ruysdaellaan in Bilthoven, by a friend, reportedly the mother of  D66 chairman Michiel Scheffer.

Just this past Saturday Borst was actively involved in the party congress. There was no indication there was something amiss, despite her age. Tuesday morning the body was transported for an autopsy. Forensic investigation of the premises and questioning the neighbors did not bring police any closer to determining the cause of death, but to rule out natural causes. 'The family has yet to decide whether her funeral will be this upcoming Saturday. Depending on the decision the family makes D66 will adjust their campaign by either canceling some of the plans or not campaign that Saturday at all,' said campaign manager Annelou van Egmond Tuesday.
