Iron pipe on track was no accident

The iron rod that ripped a hole in the floor of a train on the Hanze-route Sunday night, was placed on the track on purpose, the police and NS have confirmed. The NS suspected vandalism from the start, but the police did not immediately confirm that suspicion. The police ordered all train traffic between Dronten and Lelystad to come to a complete halt, immediately after the incident. The NS is outraged about the dangerous situation the vandals caused. Luckily nobody got hurt. The NS estimates the damage around 60,000 euros and will do what it takes to recover the loss from those responsible. The investigation is still ongoing.
