Eduard Goudsblom, a Dutch grandfather, was killed on the day he arrived in Scotland for a walking holiday with friends.
The High Court in Edinburgh was told that Goudsblom and his wife, from Zetten, the Netherlands, arrived in Scotland on April 6 and waned to spend a few days walking in Perthshire before travelling to the Isle of Skye, BBC News reported.
Stewart Williamson of Pitlochry, Scotland, drove at excessive speed and his Ford Galaxy hit Goudsblom and dragged him underneath it before stopping a short distance away.
Williamson will be sentenced next month.
Judge John Beckett QC remanded Williamson in custody and said: "Such is the gravity of this offence that I am not prepared to continue bail at this stage."
