Rotterdam saw record coke busts in 2013

Judging by the 8,500 kilograms of coke they confiscated in the first ten months of 2013, authorities in Rotterdam have probably set a new record for the city.

Trouw daily reports today that the Prosecutor’s Office expects the reports over November and December to be available soon, but that either way in 2013 Rotterdam saw a record amount of drughauls. The drugs - valued is at some €300 million- have already been destroyed. The Hit-and-Run-Cargoteam (Harc) –a joint unit of the Coast Guard, the Navy and maritime police arrest teams- says that traffickers have resorted to spreading the risk; shipments of 1,000 kilograms have become rare and drugs are more often hidden among regular freight.
