Ax wielding man arrested

Police officers in Amsterdam shot a man in his leg late Thursday night for threatening them with an ax. Police say on their website that the incident happened Hendrik Werkmanstraat in Slotervaart, where a fight had broken out. When the officers reached the scene, a man approached them with an ax. A warning shot did not convince him to lower to the weapon, so the officers shot him in his leg. He was transported to the hospital and then to lock-up.
