Paraguay nabs five over Dutchman's kidnapping

Five people have been arrested in Paraguay in connection with the kidnapping of a Dutchman who had traveled to the South American country to meet a woman he met over the internet.

Paraguayan daily newspaper Ultima Hora said the 26-year-old man had arrived in the country on December 13th, got kidnapped a week later, but managed to flee his captors last Sunday. One of them turned out to be the very woman he had traveled to Paraguay for.

The paper said the man’s parents had already paid ransom, but far less than the kidnappers were demanding. Police retrieved some of the money. More arrests are likely, it is said.
