Hoes Beats Investigation; Still Mayor

Maastricht Mayor Onno Hoes may stay in office, is the conclusion of a discussion with the different fractions in the City Council. It was an emotional and constructive meeting, stated Hoes to NOS journalist Joris van de Kerhof, but ' for the good of the City we leave the past behind and move forward with a positive attitude.' The Fractions did point out that if new facts were to surface that were harmful to the status of the mayor's office, consequences would still follow. Hoes made the news earlier this month when a picture surfaced on which he was seen kissing a lover in a hotel lobby. The explanation then of it being a one-time incident satisfied the council. Later, the mother of another young gay came in publicity, when she claimed her son had a relationship with Hoes. Additionally, a picture surfaced on the social media platform Grindr, of the mayor with bared torso.
